Alec Benson Leary, in the flesh

Alec Benson Leary (born Alex Benson Leary on 25 December 1982) is the modest, humble, lovable, award winning creator of Asperchu and his friends. He has an IQ of 151.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Alec was born in a log cabin in rural Minnesota on Christmas day. Son of a lumberjack and a housewife, Alec was destined for destiny.

At the age of one, Alec's mother noticed that Alec's lack of verbal skills and his attraction to train schedules lead to one sign - Asperger's syndrome. As soon as he was old enough to learn, Alec was sent to a special school where he got the patience and care not found in the mainstream system. Due to his special schooling, he grew up confident and happy with many friends, both male and female.

At age five he created the fabled Asperchu Medallion which he wore until age seven, realizing that it was childish behavior unbefitting to his intelligence.

Alec's creativity was praised at graduation, earning him the admiration of many women who offered him the chance to take their virginity, and film it. Being a true gentleman, Alec turned them down.

College[]

Alec attended Minnesota State University on full scholarship, where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Fine Art, and a minor in Marketing. Particularly noteworthy of his time at MSU was his work with the Dean of Student Affairs, Susan Marie Hanson in assisting students with autism spectrum disorders adjust to college life through a program designed to meet their needs.

Asperger's[]

Despite his unfortunate affliction, Alec has never let Asperger's stop him from leading a normal life, nor has he blamed any of his problems on Asperger's. Alec, while qualified for Social Security Disability, opted to work part time as a ticket agent at Amtrak. Alec knows that he should never expect to be treated any differently to a "normal" person. He also lacks the sense of entitlement found in many Autism sufferers. This attitude and determination to succeed in life despite a devastating affliction has earned him the admiration of the Asperger's community.

Relationship with fans[]

Alec relishes his Asperchu fanbase, and frequently traverses the country speaking at comic conventions for thousands of dollars at a time. The fans in turn adore Alec for his polite, calm manner, fashionable attire and alluring, masculine scent.

Most of all the fans adore Alec for his almost inhuman ability to sympathize with the suffering of others.

I remember meeting this one fan, a five year old boy named Pierre. He was blind and had only three fingers. Also, his mother had died of the mange. But I'll never forget the way he looked up and me and called me "Uncle Alec". I put my hand on his shoulder and together we wept for the fate of humanity.

Current life[]

In early 2010, Alec formed a conglomerate of Sonichu inspired webcomics, picking up classics such as Evan's Simonchu and Sean August Watley's Moon-Pals and with the help of rabid Asperchu fan Mao Ling, formed Asperpedia.

Alec is currently living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, still working as a part time Amtrak ticket agent (where his Aspergerian ability to memorize train tables comes in handy) and spends his free time creating the Asperchu comics loved by people all around the world.

In January 2010, Alec won an award from the Minnesota Tourism Bureau for his art which actively promotes the virtues and attractions of the state of Minnesota. Many hail Alec as truly Minnesota's native son and some fans have petitioned the governor to officially recognize Alec for his art promoting state pride.

Most recently, Alec has apparently become addicted to Pokémon.
